Sid's has been involved in hunting and the tourist trade for many years; we are one of the most experienced bear baiting/guiding services in the area.
Every bear outfitter in Ontario has been allocated a specific area for his non-resident bear hunters by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Our area is one of the largest - utilizing a vast wilderness around the town of Dryden.
With the variety of package plans we offer - a client can stay at an area resort, a motel/hotel, or at one of our campsites. Some of our campsites are located on lakeshores, others only short distances from lakes that are filled with fighting gamefish. All sites are licensed by the M.N.R. and are for the exclusive use of our guests. Most of the sites can accomodate pull-along trailers and motor homes - others are remote - but all can be reached by regular pickup.
Bait sites are adequately spaced along logging roads, animal trails, and around some lakeshores. Most of the baits are within 15 miles of campsites, and are placed in selected areas that offer good shots for archers or rifle hunters - usually at less than 20 yards. We do have some permanent stands, but ask that you bring your own if possible.
Several record book size and many colored phase bears have been taken by our hunters in recent years, but most go home with an average size bear or memories of a missed opportunity. Many returning customers pass up almost certain kills - opting to wait for a bigger bear, or because they wish to take videos instead.
Our regular bait checking and good management of our hunting areas has given our clients above average success - and we are trying to make it better!
Sid's prebaits for 3 to 5 weeks before you arrive, then continues to supply bait once you arrive. We offer a hunt that really is catered to what you want. You can arrive and leave any time of day - hunts are not limited to a set number of days.
